What are Veneers?
A veneer is a thin layer of porcelain made to fit over the front surface of a tooth. Veneers can improve the colour, shape and position of your teeth. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten the front of the teeth. A veneer can make a chipped tooth look intact again. The porcelain covers the whole of the front tooth with a thicker section replacing the broken part. Veneers can also be used to straighten teeth. You can also choose the shade of the veneers. Veneers make the teeth look natural and healthy. Because they are thin and are held in place by bond and permanent cement.
What are the benefits?
1. Veneers can greatly improve your appearance. They hide imperfections and you loose very little natural tooth material
2. Veneers protect teeth from any more damage. Tooth surface can be dissolved away by acid in the mouth (usually from too much citrus fruit or fruity acidic drinks) this makes the teeth sensitive to hot and cold and here veneers can protect the teeth
3. If the tooth is strong a veneer is often a better option than a crown for improving the tooth's appearance.
Porcelain veneers are a great way to improve self-confidence, encouraging you to smile more.
Porcelain veneers are used to transform the appearance of teeth by hiding discolouration and stains, closing gaps or making teeth appear straighter.
They are very thin and individually made pieces of porcelain that are cemented to the front of the teeth.
